?Threshold? in fish benefits

24 Aug 2005

The level of fish consumption that has a beneficial effect on the risk of a heart attack is lower than some may think, according to researchers in Greece. Dr Demosthenes Panagiotakos and colleagues at Harokopio University, in Athens, report in the International Journal of Cardiology that as little as 150 g of fish a week can offer a benefit. The researchers say the fact that they found no added heart benefits with moderate and high levels of fish consumption could suggest a “threshold” in the general association.
