UK food trends ?reflect health warnings?

19 Dec 2005

Sales of sugary and fatty snacks are falling for the first time in years, in what seems to be a reaction to publicity about obesity. The trend, which is highlighted in The Grocer magazine’s annual survey of food sales, adds to evidence that Britons are trying to become healthier. According to the survey, a move towards “healthier” eating is evident in biscuit sales, with Jaffa Cakes and Penguin suffering but Ryvita and Alpen selling more. The sales of probiotic drinks have risen by 50 per cent this year.
