Research in the US shows that the number of people eating “risky foods” ? for example undercooked minced beef, raw fish, oysters and runny eggs ? has dropped. Survey results, released at the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases, suggest that media exposure of food safety matters and public health education efforts are working. However, the research, by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, also shows that people aged under 18 with compromised immune systems are more likely than healthy people of the same age to eat high-risk foods.
