Vitamin C and cancer treatment

30 Mar 2006

New research suggests that vitamin C can be effective at “curing cancer”. Doctors in Canada report in the Canadian Association’s Medical Journal that three cancer patients given large intravenous doses of vitamin C over a period of several months showed shrinkage in their tumours as well as greater longevity. The researchers say attempts to replicate Dr Linus Pauling’s work had failed because large oral doses of the drug are excreted quickly. However, injections can achieve very high blood levels 25 times higher, which persist for longer.
