Scientists in Australia suggest that fish oil could be as effective as conventional medicines at treating hyperactive children. Natalie Sinn, of the University of South Australia, says results in a study group of more than 130 children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder indicate that an inadequate diet could cause the condition “[It] could be deficient diet, could be an inherited metabolic problem that is making them deficient in the omega-3 fatty acids and hence creating a greater requirement for supplementation,” she says.
