Warning over herb used in menopause

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) says products containing black cohosh, a herb popular for relieving hot flushes and other symptoms of the menopause should in future carry a warning after evidence emerged that they could lead to liver damage. The chief executive of the MHRA, Professor Kent Wood, says the organisation is working with the herbal sector to ensure that labels carry updated safety warnings.
