The combining of conventional osteoporosis treatments with vitamin D could slow the progress of the condition, according to researchers in Australia. Professor Philip Sambrook, of Sydney University?s rheumatology unit, says a new treatment combining the Fosamax and vitamin D in a single, once a week tablet would also reduce the number of fractures experienced by an osteoporosis sufferer. Recent studies have shown that 51 per cent of postmenopausal women in Australia have inadequate levels of vitamin D.
