Can vitamin affect risk of injury?

The risk of multiple falls among elderly people is greater in those with inadequate vitamin D levels, say scientist in the Netherlands. They believe it may be that compromised muscle function may explain the phenomenon. Dr Marieke Snijder, of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, says clinical trials will be need to establish whether or not improved nutrition reduce falls. The results are published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
