Vegetables may help reduce mental decline in old age

A good vegetable intake my slow mental decline associated with ageing by up to 40 per cent, according to a study at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center. Lead author Martha Clare Morris says the reduction is such that people who eat 2.8 or more servings of vegetables a day are equivalent in mental ability to the average person about five years younger. The results are published in the journal Neurology.
