Dietary fat and breast cancer

27 Nov 2006

Scientists in the US conclude that, contrary to the results of earlier research, there is no evidence that a high-fat diet increases the risk of breast cancer in elderly women. The researchers, at Harvard, add that the type of fat in the diet likewise appears not to affect the risk either. They do say, however, that there is some evidence that higher fat intake cuts the risk of breast cancer in women with insulin resistance. The results are published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
