Scientists in Sweden say high sugar intake may increase the risk of developing cancer of the pancreas. Dr Susanna Larsson and colleagues at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm report in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that the disease is significantly more likely in those who put sugar in their food and consume the greatest quantities of soft drinks. The finding is based on observation of more than 77,000 men and women aged 45 to 83 over an average of seven years.
