Modelling for metabolic treatments

US researchers have created a computer model of all the biochemical reactions that occur in human cells, and hope it will allow them to test potential new metabolic processes. According to the team, at the University of California, reporting in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the model could be used to predict what would happen if a metabolic reaction in a specific type of cell were altered, or to make a metabolic model for an individual person.
