Research carried out in guinea pigs in the US shows that a combination of antioxidants may offer some protection from noise-induced hearing loss. A team at the University of Michigan Hearing Research Institute says vitamins A, C and E, and magnesium, taken an hour before noise exposure and once-daily for 5 days afterwards, lead to significantly less hearing loss than in animals that have not taken the supplement. The findings are published in Free Radical Biology & Medicine.
