Epicatechin – found in chocolate, tea, and grapes may contribute to an improvement in memory, according to research at the Salk Institute, in the US. Their animal study, the results of which are published in the Journal of Neuroscience, suggest the chemical improves blood flow in the brain. Researchers led by Dr Henriette van Praag, working with chocolate firm Mars, compared mice fed a typical diet with those fed a diet supplemented with epicatechin.
