Cholesterol levels "could be associated with cancer"

US researchers report that reducing cholesterol may increase the risk of cancer. They say statins users show a slightly greater incidence of cancer but do not suggest the drugs cause the disease. A team at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston reports in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology that at the lowest LDL levels there is one extra case of cancer more per 1,000 patients than in those with higher levels.
