Malnutrition - a survey

A major survey is to be carried out by the British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition in order to establish how many people are malnourished when they enter hospitals and care homes. The survey will cover admissions to 500 institutions across the UK over a three-day period. Research carried out 10 years ago, concluded that about 30 per cent of patients in hospitals and care homes are clinically malnourished.
