27 Sep 2007

It appears that drinking alcohol may increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer. Scientists in the US say the danger is to an extent dependent on what is drunk â?” ie beer, wine or spirits. Arthur Klatsky, of Kaiser Permanente in California, was due to tell the European Cancer Conference today [27 September 2007] that in a study of more than 70,000 American women between1978 and 1985, those who drank between one and two alcoholic drinks per day increased their risk of breast cancer by 10 per cent over those who consuming less than one such drink a day.
