Food allergies - perspective

31 Jan 2008

Research funded by the Food Standards Agency indicates that parents are too quick to assume their child has an allergy or intolerance to a specific food. The main reason parents give for thinking their child has an allergic to a food is the appearance of a rash, itching or hives or eczema. Dr Carina Venter says by the age of three about 75 per cent of babies who are allergic to or intolerant of milk have outgrown the reaction and half have outgrown a reaction to eggs.
