Selenium intake needs to be right

27 Feb 2008

Research in the US indicates that the beneficial effects of selenium are achieved with moderate rather than great consumption of the element. A study of more that 14,000 adults by a team at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health concludes that once selenium levels pass a certain mark, the odds of dying from any cause, or from cancer specifically, begin to increase. The findings are published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
