28 Feb 2008

It appears that cutting out tea and coffee could help diabetics cope with their disease cope better with their condition. Scientists in the US say a daily dose of caffeine raises blood sugar levels by 8 per cent, backing up a growing body of research suggesting that reducing intake might be a good way to help manage type 2 diabetes. Study leader James Lane, of Duke University, in North Carolina, says the effect could be explained by caffeine interfering with the process that moves glucose around the body, or by its caffeine releasing adrenalin.
