Research links diet and blood pressure another way

22 Apr 2008

A link has been established for the first time between blood pressure, diet and certain chemicals in the urine. A team led by scientists at Imperial College London has found that metabolites in urine are directly associated with blood pressure, linking it to diets rich in meat, high in alcohol and low in fibre. Professor Jeremy Nicholson and his team, working with colleagues at Northwestern University, in the US, report their findings in Nature.
