Dairy products "are not a weight-loss aid"

15 May 2008

Recent claims that low-fat dairy products, or indeed calcium itself, can help people lose weight are untrue, according to a review by scientists in the US. Dr Amy Joy Lanou, of the University of North Carolina and Neal Barnard, of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington, DC, evaluated evidence from 49 clinical trials assessing whether dairy products or calcium can help with weight loss. Their work appears in Nutrition Reviews [NB not Nutrition Review].
