Genetic component to obesity

Researchers in London have made the first association between obesity in Europeans and a specific gene. They say children carrying a variant of FTO fail to experience a feeling of fullness when they have eaten enough for their needs. The results, by scientists at University College London and the Institute of Psychiatry, at King’s College, appear in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
