MSG "leads to weight gain"

27 Aug 2008

Research published in the journal Obesity suggests that eating a lot of food containing monosodium glutamate can lead to weight gain. In a study group of rural Chinese, at team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that those consuming the most MSG were more than twice as likely to be overweight as their peers who did not eat it at all. Previous studies show a weight gain in juvenile mice, and also injury to the hypothalamus associated with MSG.
